Our congregation is organized, has a constitution
and bylaws, and
assures responsible handling of the spiritual, legal, and ethical aspects of our
church life. We have a million dollar facility, a $100,000 annual budget which
we support solely by local giving. We have 501(c)3
nonprofit status and are organized under California Corporate laws. Our policies
are fair, legal, and moral, are set by our own leaders, and are upheld by our
practices. We have been here in Eureka since 1892!
Committees take care
of the business of the organization, but all members take a part in the Gospel
Ministry of Jesus Christ, by word and deed. We pull
together!
Parish Education Coordinates Christian
education ministry such as the Sunday School;
the Preschool and Daycare; confirmation and membership classes; Bible studies and other classes.
Evangelism and Outreach Coordinates work in our ministry to share the Gospel with people outside our community of believers.
Hospitality Provides receptions after Sunday worship; organizes Sunday greeters; provides opportunity for community social activities; and makes provision for childcare during church functions. Organizes meals at church and home stays for visiting groups.
Justice/Advocacy Informs the congregation about social issues on the local, state and national level. The options have been to procure goods such as clothes, toys, and toiletries for the Humboldt County Women's Shelter; collect food for the food bank. Donation baskets are in our narthex for both organizations. The committee also distributes food to a needy member of our congregation as the need arises.
Stewardship Educates congregation how to use all our resources, self, body, time, good, materials, the earth as well as money. Teaches responsible personal money management and highlights our Memorial Policy and Mission Endowment Fund
Building/Grounds (Trustees) Maintains building and grounds. Organizes weekly offering counters. Hires and release lay employees.
Worship Assures God's Holy Word is read, taught, sung and preached and the Holy Sacraments are celebrated. Coordinates music for worship, works through the Altar Guild for beautiful, orderly and efficient worship. Coordinates worship volunteers, readers, ushers, flowers, etc.
Youth Assures the use of worship and Scripture in youth meetings; focus on Gospel ministry and service during social opportunities. Encourages participation in worship, education and social ministries for youth (12 to 21 years old) and young adults (21 to 29 years old).

Preschool Board of Directors
Consists of seven members, five from within the congregation. They oversee the
operations and insure compliance with the California Child Care Center
Regulations.
Eureka Chamber Music Series Board
- This is an outreach ministry of Calvary Lutheran Church; its main
promoters are Pearl and Robert Micheli.
